REMA Conducts Field Assessment of Inyambo Heritage Resort Site
From February 6th to 8th, 2025, a verification team from the Rwanda Environment Management Authority (REMA) visited the proposed site for the Inyambo Heritage Resort project in Murundi Sector, Kayonza District. The visit marked a key milestone in our journey toward building a resort that not only celebrates Rwanda’s cultural heritage but also aligns with the highest standards of environmental sustainability.
The area poses no threat to critical ecosystems such as wetlands, rivers, or water sources, making it an environmentally suitable and secure site for the development of Inyambo Heritage Resort.
Led by Mr. Theogene Ngaboyamahina (ECCMO/REMA), the assessment team included conservation interns from the University of Rwanda and Adolphe Tuyisenge, our own on-site Engineer. Their insights and recommendations are already shaping the next steps of the project.
REMA provided key recommendations to ensure the resort contributes positively to environmental restoration. Chief among them is a reforestation initiative using native tree species to stabilize the soil, enhance biodiversity, and strengthen ecological connectivity with Akagera National Park.
Further recommendations included adopting eco-friendly construction methods, establishing effective stormwater and waste management systems, utilizing climate-resilient materials, and implementing a rainwater harvesting system.
At Inyambo Heritage Resort, we fully embrace these recommendations. We see them not merely as compliance measures, but as integral components of our commitment to responsible development and environmental stewardship.
